Radiology Research Week 2026: Driving Collaborative Innovation in Medical Imaging

The 2026 Radiology Research Celebration on Tuesday, April 21, brought together faculty, residents, and trainees to showcase the outstanding research accomplishments across our department. The evening featured selected project presentations, recognition of key achievements, and engaging discussions centered on innovation in medical imaging and discovery.

A major highlight of the event was an inspiring keynote lecture by Elias Sayour, MD, PhD, one of the most highly NIH-funded investigators at the University of Florida and a nationally recognized leader in pediatric cancer research. Dr. Sayour shared his remarkable journey through medicine and science, his pioneering work in personalized mRNA and nanoparticle-based tumor vaccines, and many powerful lessons with the audience on perseverance, resilience, and the reality that the road to success is rarely linear. His message on believing in the mission, continuing through setbacks, and staying committed to purpose deeply resonated with attendees.

The celebration provided a valuable opportunity to highlight the depth, excellence, and growing impact of research within UF Radiology while strengthening collaboration across our academic community. We are proud of the momentum our research enterprise continues to build and excited for what lies ahead.

A sincere thank you to every individual who supported this outstanding event. We are especially grateful to the Research Core Team, the Vice Chair of Research, Bruno Hochhegger, MD, PhD, the Research Strategist, Arezou Sobhani, PhD and the Chief Resident for Research, Kevin Pierre, MD for their leadership, dedication, and countless efforts in making this celebration such a success.
