At her previous institution, Dr. Phalke served on the Women in Academic Medicine Committee (2014-2020), which she co-chaired from 2017-2020. Besides hosting the annual leadership conference, the committee played roles in giving input on decisions related to naming conventions on badges, co-sponsored sexual harassment awareness series, contributed to hiring committees for Assistant Dean of Faculty Development and Assistant Dean of Diversity and Inclusion positions, and worked alongside the faculty senate to make the College of Medicine clinical strategic plan gender inclusive. The committee worked with other stakeholders on policy related to paid parental leave, which went into effect in 2019. Since the activities of this committee impacted the entire campus community, they took the College of Medicine committee and made it university-wide by including faculty from the Schools of Nursing, Dentistry, Pharmacy, and Public Health.

Dr. Phalke has a passion for faculty development and mentorship and served many years on the College of Medicine Faculty Advancement and Development Committee at her previous institution. Within the radiology department, she chaired the Wellness Committee and was an active member of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee.  While serving on these committees at the department, college and university levels, she has been actively engaged on issues related to women faculty, including advocacy, negotiation, promotion, and leadership.
